Technical Transmission problem

I have a 2006 fiat ducato jayco conquest motorhome maxi 2.8 jtd automatic gearbox. When started then trying to put into gear it makes a grinding noise and won't drive.Could it be the clutch or the selectors in the gearbox.Any information would be great.Thank you.
