General Temperture warning light

Anybody tell me easiest way of checking warning light is working.Do I have to take dash bulb out or can you check with meter.Doesnt light up on ignition start up is this normal.Where is sensor for the light is it on radiator.

it doesnt normally light when u turn the ignition on.

to test it, turn ignition on and then look on the back of the head - near the spark plug hole of number1. there is a sensor, disconnect the wire and touch it to the cylinder head.

the overheat light should come.

this only checks the wiring, not the sensor.

and i'm assuming MK1 Sei sporting here.

No arc It is just sei s will check out to see if wire is there wanting to make sure light is at least coming on to start with
