General Strange light

This morning when I turned my car on, this strange light appeared, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it means!!

Hi,
it struggled to read the Chip in the key

Maybe wait for all the dashboard to do its test, before starting the engine

You don't say if the car starts, or is started

If no crank, No oil light, engine check light or battery check light, just the immobilizer light

It's likely the ECU and Body computer has lost connection due to a faulty earth lead

If you have a test light or multimeter it a quick test to confirm

If the car starts it might just be a glitch or weak battery, fingers crossed, can't tell no rev counter

If it starts without problems it's most likely a harmless glitch as Koalar said. I've had this happen 2 or 3 times and restarting the car fixes it.

Has the immobiliser light gone out, @Postman Pat Prunella?

It's come on temporarily for me a couple of times too. But goes out when I restart the car.

I know my battery is weak because it struggles to start after a period of inactivity in winter, so I just assume it's that.

Any odd electrical issues, I would always start by assuming it's a bad earth.

It would be a good idea to clean the negative terminal of the battery.

The main earth cable that runs from the battery negative to the body underneath the battery tray and to the gearbox is also famous for failing with age - a fairly cheap and simple fix.

Its normal to see this occasionally, some sort of reset is going on. As long as its only occasional. Scared me half to death the first time!
