Technical stilo petrol that sounds like a diesel

hello all im after abit of advise ive just got myself a stilo dynamic 1.8 with only 53,000 mile and its a cracking car but when its warm after say 10 mins of driving it sounds like a diesel on tick over, but when its reved up and driving is sweet as a nut and its very good from cold too no noises at all could anyone help me with this? also all oil levels are fine . thanks kieron

Is the variator mate and it will need replacing but best to do it in conjunction with a cam belt change the cost will then be cut down as it will then be part of the procedure..

When you know what's involved in fitting one, you'd be crazy (IMO) to fit anyting other than a brand new one. See here:

yes ill get a new one they about 100 pound on ebay unless my local motorfactors will sell me one
