I need to replace the speedo on the firefly as the VDO aftermarket one has packed in.

The problem is I need to know how many revolutions per mile the drive on the gearbox outputs. The new gauge comes set at 1000 revs/mile, but I suspect the standard panda gearbox drive will output something different.

Anyone know?

It depends on which panda gearbox you have ( 750,1000,4speed, 5speed,year?) and the size tyres you are using.

The old kit car trick is the following:
1. disconect speedo head
2. mark position of car
3. roll car forward for 10 revolutions of the road wheel and note how may times the speedo cable rotates.
4. measure the distance the car moved
5. do the mathematics

You may have to up the revs pushed depending on the speedo drive gearing but you get the general idea cheers Damon
