The past couple of days I've have an absolute nightmare attempting to get a simple gearbox oil seal via Fiat Dealers. Palmers Fiat in Watford has an absolutely useless spares department run by a guy who knows bugger all and didn't seem to give a damn. I will commend their showroom sales staff though but if I could afford a new 500 I wouldn't be asking for spares for a 1989 Uno 
So I gave up on them and tried Perrys Amersham instead. One of the parts guys, Paul, tried very hard to help but wasn't having much luck identifying the part I needed thanks to Eper not covering the early Unos. He got onto other dealers and seemed to identify the part I required, but after it turned up (a day late...) it turned out to be the wrong part :bang: He did try again and ordered an alternate part though it's hit or miss as to whether it is the correct one or not, it may or may not turn up tomorrow.
I'm rather pee'd off at this point as I've now wasted two days that I should have spent putting my Uno back together. Instead I've been waiting for parts that turned up late and when they did they were the wrong ones. All the remaining jobs require the gearbox to be refitted first, but I can't do that until the input shaft seal is fitted. As a result everything is on hold thanks to one part
Thanks to the recommendations of Pottleflump, I tried Ricambio - an Italian car parts specialists. What a revelation! These guys actually knew the car and parts! Not only that but they managed to identify the correct part I needed and had it in stock! It should now be winging its way to me via 1st class post and if I'm lucky it will be on my door mat tomorrow.
Though they aren't necessarily a dealer they are a parts supplier and VERY knowledgeable regarding older Fiats. A big thumbs up to them!
