JD, could you put up a pic of the plug in question, and perhaps a general view of the back of the van so we can help further?

FYI
Info for X250
HI, sorry to dig up an old thread but have been searching for info on wiring a camera to a 2011 Relay which presumably is the same as the Ducato.

Ive fitted my camera and traced the manufacturer's pre-installed wiring which seems to be the same as the wiring diagram above.

However, Im no electrics expert so struggling to figure out what I need to tap in to. Am also assuming the digram relates to French colours rather than British ? So B = Brun rather than Black / V = Vert (Green) and so on ??

There is a thicker, clear coated wire at both ends which I cant figure out from the diagram though, is that the one marked 'M' in which case what does that stand for (in French) ?.

As I have wiring supplied with the camera all I really need is to identify the power at either end for reversing + permanent camera (from reversing switch and ignition) and can hopefully disregard the rest.

Any help gratefully received.

there are 3 backup camera solutions available on the market for your Fiat ducato vans :

1.aftermarket backup camera is cheap ,usually around USD100 for the camera and monitor ,but you need to drill holes on the roof .

2.wireless backup camera is very expensive ,usually USD200 for the complete kit with camera and monitor .the installation is easy ,no need to run cable from the back to the front .

3.original backup camera specially designed for Fiat ducato is the best solution, because no need to drill hole ,very easy installation .just check this picture :

I have just installed a reversing camera with a 7 inch monitor attached to the rear view mirror.
I wired mine to the cigarette lighter, so it is on all of the time.

is there a way to turn backup camera on demand?

Yes If you want a rear view camera wire it up to an ing. controlled supply. and it will come on when you turn the engine on and go off when switched off

It you want a reversing camera wire it up to the reverse bulb in the rear and will come on when you select reverse gear and go off when you dis-engage .

For reversing camera place on Black Nº plate light trim panel & run the wires through the middle of black plastic door strap pick up rev wire on the way and run wires to the monitor .

Note you don't have to drill in the van roof to fit a camera at the side of high brake light drill a hole in the light unit cut the wire and run inside holes at the rear to allow cables to get inside the van roof re-solder the cables place camera at the side using the fitted 8mm screw hole with longer bolt it works .I have fitted both on me van .

I have stock rev camera and it goes already on with reverse gear.
I need extra switch to turn it on while not reversing.

This requirement could be satisfied by a changeover switch connected between the camera and the reversing light switch, with common connection to the camera. The other connections on the switch would need to be connected to the reversing light switch and to an ignition controlled supply.

Finding an accessible flat location for the switch is not easy, so perhaps a latching 16mm mounting hole push button switch. See link. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Latching...022527?hash=item546c1bedbf:g:84IAAOSwDdxenoTl

A possible location for the switch could be close to the gear lever. See 20mm washer taped in position.
