rear subrame mountings

My fiat merea is banging when I go over bumps or pot-holes (which we know there are lots of). I suspect its the rear mounting bushes. Has anybody changed them? How easy are they to do? Are the bushes split or pressed into the subframe? Any advise would be much appreciated.

They are not pressed in, you can change them. BUT as I know the whole frame must go down, so you need to take the tank, fuel lines, brake lines, exhaust off to gain access. Don't get me wrong, its not impossible, but a lot of work.

have you tested your arb? mine does the same to which i changed the droplinks as advised.
After they were done it was still doing it.So the next day i got it up on the ramp and the culprit was the bolt for the arb was banging against the droplink nut,The arb we could move side to side so when centred it didnt do it for a while but once it moved,it was at it again.

You may wana get that checked

this has puzzled me for months lol so hopefully when i get them changed the problm should be sorted

sorry where is it banging from? The rear?
cos i quoted from the front as its a common problem for a 'bang/knock' from the front.

If it is the rear it well could be ur rear subframe bushes,i had to change mine on a diff car but was quite easy. Top bolts were in the boot.

To chek if it is ur rear subframe bushes,when driving along slowly pull ur handbrake and it should 'knock/bang'

Thanks folks. Its definitely coming from the near-side rear. Been reading some other forums ( I just seem to keep finding problems) and they are saying that you can't buy the bushes, you've gotta buy the whole subframe ( ouch). Please somebody tell me they are wrong and you can get hold of them
