General Punto GT

Hey all,

I am a member here who currently enjoys cento ownership. I am now looking at getting something with a little bit more go. It seems that teh punto gt could be the route I want to go.

How much should I be looking to pay and what issues do I need to be aware of?

Tone, why not go 1.4 16v in the cento?

The engine is newer and more reliable and you know you have a good shell.

The newest GT's are 10 years old, the oldest are 15.

The majority have been ragged about because they're cheap and people with no knowledge of them can afford to buy them. Your best bet is to look on punto sports club as it's basically the punto GT club.

obbiously look for turbo problems (blue smoke etc) check for oily deposits on thedump valve
some higher hp GT's are prone to driveshaft problems as my mate found out.

I want to go to something wiht a bit more kick than even a 1.4 16v in a cento. I would love an un turbo but these are like the proverbial rocking horse poo and so the punto gt is the obvious next choice.

I dont have the time for doing the conversion on a cento and dont have the money to buy one already done. Chances are that it has some chavvy bits on anyways if converted, although I know this can happen with Puntos too.

How quick are the sportings compared to the centos?
