Grande Punto Punto fuel economy problems

Hi all,

Hope somebody can help me out with a problem my car recently developed.


When I start up in the morning the engine temp needle gets to the halfway mark after about 1 min, which must be rising too fast considering its been sat all night in this cold weather.

I have checked engine coolant and oil levels and all seem normal???

It starts fine just temp rises really fast, never goes past halfway mark though

check the engine bay earths and battery terminals and the one to the ecu

Failing that is it possible it could be lambda sensor?

can't see how the lambda doesn't measure water temperature..

Right ok then might sound daft but have u any idea were to earths are and what Im looking for if there not working right?

assuming its the 8v follow black wire front battery terminal to left chassis leg then to top of gear box and small one under air filter box to ecu
