Hello! I have been wondering what does the pipe attached to the carb cover, which goes down to the engine block... Is it for burning oil vapour? If it is, would it be safe to detach it (and put a cap on the hole on carb cover), then redirect the pipe to a small bottle and collect oil there? The carb should stay much cleaner this way... Please let me know, thanks!

its the crankcase breather pipe. you can fit an oil catch tank or something which will take the oil, just into a bottle probably won't work as its all the vapours that escape the cylinders and these need ventilating otherwise it causes problems.

i'm sure i've seen threads elsewhere in different sections discussing this subject, might be best to a forum search for crankcase ventilation or oil catch tank etc.
