im looking for advice on fitting a 1242cc punto engine to my girlfriends car is there much work involved and any major changes to be made any advice would be great. 900cc soliel

what engine is at the moment? if its an 1108 sporting, then its easy. you need an SPI punto engine, ecu, sensors etc all swap accross. only thing you will need is a 10/15mm spacer for the exhaust as the 1242 is around 10mm taller.

It is a lot easier to start with the 1108 engine, and in most cases we would say sell it and buy a sporting, hwoever it looks like youve spent a bit of money on it already so that is a non starter

Someone on the forum has already 1242'd a soleil. Maybe they would be the ones you should be speaking to and maybe a PM is in order

For the 899cc conversion you'll need a lot of sporting bits, might be an idea to get a non-runner sporting as a supply of parts.

I still read it as that you need to swap the engine, ECU, sensors and other bits

you will need the punto ECU if doing the engine upgrade to a 899cc or get it remapped which costs alot more then just buying an ecu lol

all the sensors/ecu swap across - from one engine to another, thats what i meant.
