Pc hardrives not working?

Hi all, i have a problem not sure if any one can help me out.

I got a new pc last year the packard bell ipowerx2.0 its capable of holding 4 hard drives.. so i put my old PC hardrive into my new pc, when i go to veiw my old files it wont let me it says i need permision to veiw them.. but gives me no other choice and i cant veiw them, any one know how to solve it? my old pc was windows xp i think and now im on vista is this the problem? if so what do i do?

Change the permissions then. Can you view the files, folders or both?

If it is a file, right click it - select properties, then the security tab - and EDIT permissions that way to include your user account on the new machine.

No joy, it has no option for me to allow access from this computer. so many pictures on there i wanted to get off it but i cant open them to see if its the ones i want, whats strange is some photos it lets me open really confused me!

i had that problem once but it was with xp

i booted up in safe mode and it let me edit the permissions that way
