Hi I am a newbie. I have a 2007 1·1 panda, I have fitted a power outlet to the wiring beneath the blank plastic trim by the gear stick-the wiring connector was there but it only has power when the lights are on! Is this right? Or have I connected to the wring outlet / connector? Will I overload it running a dash cam and phone and so blow my lights too? Thanks for your help.

Some sockets have a light ring with a small lead and a larger power lead. You have probably connected that lighting wire to the power pin. It wont be adequate and could cause damage so disconnect and find the right lead.
You need a wire that is live when ignition is on.
