Hello.
As stated in a previous thread, I plan on driving to Italy from Sweden next week.
Unfortunately I discovered today that I have a split in my right side outer cv boot and figured that's no good.
I have new boots, but looking at them I just don't see how they could fit. The inside diameter of the new boots' larger end is 67mm. When I measured the old boots on the car it's clear that new ones would have to be stretched out to something like 88mm to fit over the outer CV joint, and I don't see how that could be done with greasy hands etc.
The question is: have I gotten the wrong boots? They look exactly like the ones sold by ricambio.
And if they are the correct ones, how the h*ll am I supposed to stretch them out that much?
The problem is that I don't have the time to order new parts since I plan on leaving this coming thursday.
And one more thing, this regarding the inner boots. Are the bearings inside the inner boots a pressure fit and thus has to be put on with a drift or a press?
Thanks, and sorry for the long text as always.
