Technical Outer CV Boot tie/clip scrapping on hub- any ideas?

I have fitted the tie on the cv boot on the outer side closest to the wheel.
I've tried 2 methods one with a zip tie and secondly with a steel cable tie type thing.

I could get the zip tie tight enough but it scraps on the hub where it bolts to the strut (i have chopped the excess tie off flush) it tends to do this mainly when I turn right.

The steel tie doesn't seem to get tight enough and moves a bit however I don't think that scraps.

Has anyone had any problems like this? What did you do to solve it?
 

no they are the proper tool costs 6 times as much

I've used the plyer with the pic above, if the clip is sitting too high, then why now hammer it flat at an angle so that it doesn't lose tension but is also sitting low enough to miss the hub
