Just parked car and noticed a fresh oil leak which appears to be dripping from the front drivers side wheel arch area.

Not a clue on cars and wondering if it's either something to do with the shock absorbers or brakes? Need car for the next few days and although will take it to the garage, I'm wondering if anyone can shed light as to what it may be. Car is 2 1/2 old - Punto.

Cheers & thanks :D

Shock absorbers don't usually drip oil, if there's a problem with them it's usually just a little seepage from the top seal. The only other oil under the wheel arch is brake fluid. If there's the slightest possibility of it being brake fluid, you should not drive the car an further.

Dave.

I've had a shock drip oil on the ground the seals blew entirely and covered the whole arch with it then dripped everywhere. However this is very obvious it smells very strongly when it has just gone and the whole arch was wet. Brake fluid would be a good guess.
