Technical Odd Problem cant find a solution

Hi got a bit of an odd problem, car just decided today not to start, it would crank but no spark its a 1.6 8v had new coil about 2 months ago so i went at it earlier, found the earth connectors under the coil were corroded, so made new earth strap, it made no difference so i had a friend crank it over and i accidentally disconnected one of the small black earth wires noticed what i had done and reconnected it, bugger me it started ran great for about éà seconds then stuttered and cut out then would not start again until i pulled off the small black earth and reconnected it again, it started then stopped.
Bermused tried pulling off the earth again and reconnected with just the ingition on and a relay clicks near the firewall.....

Anyone got any ideas its doing my head in:bang:
