Technical Need help! Multipla 5th gear

Just had the parts to repair 5th and haven't had any replies to my last post so thought I'd put out another appeal:worship: Does anybody know whether the crimped nut on the end of the gear shaft has to be pulled up tight or is there some free play? Reason I ask is because when I stripped it down, the nut was only hand tight and held by the crimping. Failing this is there a manual anywhere that would have the info. Have looked around but haven't seen anything to date.
