Technical Mystery box in engine bay

Hi everyone,
We’ve recently bought a 14 plate Ducato based Motorhome and I’ve found this mystery box in the engine bay next to the fuse panel. Does anyone know what this is? Thinking it could be some sort of aftermarket alarm etc?
Any info would be appreciated!

I am tempted to wonder whether the device would be effective against pine martens. In Germany this animal is known as a marder, where it damages the wiring of many vehicles.
