Punto (Mk2/2b) My Punto MK2b

Introduction

Hi everyone,
Its not the first time I've showed off a new Fiat on this forum! I used to have a poor little '99 Seicento Sporting Abarth but its was pretty toast.. So now I've got a new baby, its newer and bigger...
A MK2b '03 Punto Active Sport 1.2 8v.. I've driven it once so far and I'm already hooked.. just can't get enough of these little Italian cars!

Regards,
Rhys
At the end of the day, I like the car and thats all that matters. As I've said, time and time again, I wanted to make my car look how I want it. I wanted to replace my badge to make my car look more modern and I like Abarth.. kill two birds with one stone. The Sporting badge is a feature I used to love on Fiat's when I was growing up. I also used to have a Seicento Sporting Abarth and that had a Sporting badge, so I just love the Sporting badge. And finally the HGT badge is for my HGT/Abarth project. Whether its a decent project is another story, but I still think that all the things I have done to it look great :)

Finally got round to changing my interior light. I have to admit a nooby error... After reading a post by Ziggy somewhere on the forum, I realised that you have to try LED bulbs in both ways. I only tried them one way, it didn't work so I left it.

But just now, I tried it both ways and surprise, surprise the LED worked the other way!

It's a blue LED bulb, matching my car, but I have a feeling it's not gunna be as bright as my old festoon bulb.

I will upload a picture of how they look at night too.

I completed quite a hefty interior job today... Changed my air vents to the HGT one! My old vent was well and truly broken!

This job meant taking the WHOLE centre console off, taking the radio out and a lot of unscrewing...

So firstly I started with undoing the whole centre console... Then once that was off, I set about the electric windows switch panel. Once that was off, I had to unscrew two screws under this panel that was holding the vent in from underneath. I then took off my aftermarket radio aperture, radio front and then took the radio out. A lot of jiggling and forcing went into getting the radio out! I then unscrewed the rest of the screws holding the vent on. Then took it out and replaced it with the new vent. Next the radio went back in and I screwed up all the screws that I had taken out. I then put back on the electric window switch panel, putting the original silver one on instead of the stickerbombed one. I think this makes it look a lot better. Then on went the centre console. I managed to get my single din cubby hole securely in too. And voilà! My car was in one piece again!

Pictures below!

Some people will like it, some wont as is life! As long as your happy and enjoy what your doing thats all that matters. You dont have to justify it to anyone. I like your car it looks good and stands out! Your like me, i use my punto as a hobby aswell as a daily driver :)
Thanks man :) you're so right! I like your Punto too!

For a little while now I've wanted to do a subtle cosmetic change to my Punto. And yesterday, I bit the bullet and got stuck into it.

Thanks to Dino G I managed to visualise what it would look like, which gave me extra incentive to do it.

See pictures below and let me know your thoughts.

Yesterday I set about on a job I've been meaning to do for a while now. I think I saw it on Ziggy's thread.

I took out my rear lights and cleaned behind them. Boy am I glad I did! There was a horrible black sludge behind both of the lights... Plus 11 years of general grime. So I cleared out all of the sludge and grime, and then waxed and polished behind the lights and the lights themselves.

It's given peace of mind that its been done and I won't have to worry about it for a few years!

See pictures below (some of the pictures may be a bit rubbish quality because, as ever in classic Rhys style, I was working on it when it was getting dark):
