Hi im just wondering on how to go about changing the head gasket on these engines amd if there is a guide available? It looks complicated compared to the 8v which is reletivly easy. I have done a search and understand you neeed to lock the timing?
I plan on getting a full gasket set with headbolts (known make or fiat) thermostat.
What other parts do you reccomend changing ? Timing belt kit and waterpump?
is there any members in west midlands who know there way about the engine want to make some cash ? I can get it skimmed etc easy enough just not feeling confident!!
Car is a seicento 1.2 16v

thanks

To set the timing on these engines you need the locking tools. You'd be barking mad not to change the water pump. cam belt and tensioner while you were at it.

Are you certain the head gasket has gone? Do a compression test to get a definitive answer, and work out why it went.

Everything you need is in the Haynes Punto manual.

You may find help in the Cinq/Sei section.

Its not gone but I have suspected the car has had minor overheating in the past and its currently off the road at the moment so im thinking about doing a few things too it while im not using it. Ill invest in a haynes manual

thanks
