There is a post in the General section regarding replacement of instrument lights. Remove some screws on console and change the affected bulbs. I'm doing mine this weekend.

I believe that's the issue..had this on a Marea..,

I finally got time to sort the mileometer problem today. Undid three screws on the dash surround and removed it. The instrument pod / cluster was held in by two torx screws. Once removed the pod can be lifted out and turned around as the wiring loom is quite long. On the reverse of the unit, several bulb holders are visible.. I undid the one behind the faulty readout. The bulb is a small, capless push-fit RU 286 bulb. Replaced it and now my mileage is readable again.
Took under 5 minutes and the bulb cost £1-50
