A couple of days ago I noticed my Mileage readout started to flash in 1 second intervals, I thought it might go away when I stopped the engine and started again, but no.

I have done some googling and it has been said that there could be an issue with the Canbus system needing proxy allignment? Also said it can cause issues with Blue and Me and Climate. But everything is working as it should.
The weird thing is that when the instrument display shows the track name for a few seconds the mileage readout stays, then starts flashing again?

I have driven 100 miles since this started and have not seen any other issues pop up. Has anyone else had similar issues and got them sorted? Or worse still, what happens if it isn't looked at?
If it doesn't damage anything then i'm happy to continue driving it rather than pay Fiat silly money to plug it in and reset something.

Any help would be great.

Just happened randomly. Have heard some had it happen after replacing, reseting things but nothing has been changed. Might see what happens if I disconnect the battery for 10 mins

I had a similar problem. The odometer was flashing and my Blue & Me stopped working.

You should try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. That fixed it for me.

When you connect the battery again your ASP and hill holder will be disabled when you start the car. Free the steering wheel, turn off the car, lock the steering wheel and turn the car on again. It should fix it.

:)

Well, it happened to mine and my battery seems fine. But who has a completely charged battery when it has been used for a few years? :p

Hi

Sorry to be reopening this after a long time, but I have the mileage flashing and B&M not working, so it is booked in for a reset at Fiat- anyone have any experience of how much this will set me back :/

Thanks

Have you not disconnected your battery for an hour to see if this resets it

Tried several times. Car is booked in to local garage Tuesday - I so hope the manage to do it and it's not main dealer!

Not much of a change TBH, you're going to be charged labour for something they can't sort....unless they're the correct equipment (IE a Fiat specialist) but thats unlikely.

The other cause of this is if the car has been sitting a while - when I got my car from the dealer it would do it on or off for a few days and then settled down by itself.

Sitting for a while has nothing to do with it directly. Its simply a case of the body computer not recognising all the nodes present.

Can be caused by low battery voltage sometimes, so this is the only way sitting for a while may cause it if you've a battery on its way out.

Just wait and it will return to normal on its own.

Well I've been waiting since May and about 3k miles so I doubt it!
Have learnt to live with the flashing, I would try disconnecting the battery but I don't have the card with the radio code on. So whenever I get around to buying a new card from Fiat I will try it.

If the radio is the one it came out of the factory with you don't need the code ;)

As was mentioned early on this post the "flashing display" is normally an indication that the body computer sees or does not recognise attached devices.

To resolve this situation a "Proxi Alignment" procedure is required with suitable diagnostic kit. Any Fiat dealership can/should be able to do this. Anybody with MultiECUScan can do this. Most decent/quality independent garages with the likes of Snap-On and other professional diag kit can also do this.

Please note! whilst a flashing display is normally associated with a vehicle 'node' registration issue there could also be other system errors that need attending to. As said any decent garage should be able resolve these issues.

If you live near Southampton then I'm willing to "plug-in" and see what is going on for free...... but all donations welcome .... I recently enjoyed a nice bottle of wine ! :)
