Here's a proposal that might increase the membership of the forum.
Redesign the registration page so that all necessary data entry fields are shown above the "re-captcha" anti-bot word guessing box.
The recaptcha tool is ambiguous (is it necessary to leave a space between the two words, for example?), so users don't always trust that their answers are correct. Consequently when the registration fails it is easy to blame this and waste a good 10 minutes or so punching a variety of weird and wonderful words into the box before you realise that the error message actually relates to a whole load of other stuff you haven't filled in yet, off the bottom of the screen. :bang:
This is a tad irritating and I wonder how many people simply give up, thinking that the rather awkward security system won't let them in, when it's actually because the form is the wrong way round.
