Technical Leaking petrol tank

Not sure if my petrol tank has a leak! I removed it 3 months ago & sprayed it fitted new gaskets, all looked sound. However i seem to have a permanent petrol smell of fuel i also have an electric fuel pump next to the tank. My question is, is it possible the tank can leak fuel without actually seeing it or feeling any displaced petrol.

What sort of petrol cap do you have on your tank. A vented one by any chance?

If so, you will smell some petrol in the cabin. I think these caps have a rubber washer in and this can degrade over time.

I will order a new cap, hopefully you have not the nail on the head. I didn't think of that.
