I've been bugged with a few problems for a while now, most of which have nearly been sorted.
I still think I'm suffering for a lack of power in the lower RPM range.
For example when pulling off in 1st gear at normal throttle the car is really sluggish up until about 1700rpm where there is a big increase in torque and then a surge of power at 2300rpm
The same thing goes when changing up through all gears, for example after a gear change the revs drop back down to 1500rpm so when I'm not booting it for example.
Now I'm trying to work out if this is completely normal and how the car has always driven and its all in my head and my judgement has become clouded over time driving lots of newer and faster cars for work or if indeed there is a problem.
I've done so much research into this and lots of people say its just a trait of this engine
Looking at the official power graph which I'm sure some will find interesting, what I'm experiencing kind of make sense and looks technically right.
60BHP/163 lb-ft @ 1500rpm
87BHP/225 lb-ft @ 2000rpm
Saying this the engine should have delivered 2/3rd of torque by 1500rpm which just doesn't feel like the case since its virtually dead until 1500rpm.
I've cleaned my MAF and this helped a little, however if I completely disconnect it and the performance improves this would likely mean a faulty MAF however if I did this would the EML turn off once I reconnected it or would I have to plug it into diagnostics to wipe the light and code
£150 for a new MAF is a lot on just a punt.
I also cleaned the MAP but thinking replacing this too
What is everyone else's thoughts.
Cheers

Also I get this strange quick noise when accelerating at about 2600RPM -
