Technical keys cut

well last nite may car cut out and when i tried to restart the key code light wouldnt go off waited and then locked the doors and it started

had it on a diagnostic machine today and there is a key code fault on it
the mechanic told me to get another key or can i just get my key re encoded

The if the keys been working since then it isn't faulty. Maybe theres a loose wire or a bigger problem with the body computer.

You could disconnect the battery for 5 mins, then remove all connectors from the internal fusebox front and back, then reattach. Also might be worth removing the steering cover and do the same to the immo pickup ring around the ignition.

Also once the cars running the transponder chip isn't needed not sure if it checks the transponder after a certain time or not, but if it doesn't then theres something else that made it cutout.

maybe so but then the key code light stayed on when i tried to restart

worth noting if you have got any other transponder key attached to the fiat key then theres a chance it could interfere with the immo.
