Greggers, mine reads 13,8 ohms exactly.

Is that the reistance across the two solder blobs on the top of the solenoid cap? Test it for continuity, you know, the option on the multimeter that beeps when there's a closed circuit. If it beeps, then it's fine, if not, then you need to fix the cap. It's worth doing the 3rd test as well as that tests the operation of the variator itself (y)

I suppose reading 13.8 means it has continuity? I'm no electrician lol

Not necessarily, what you're trying to avoid is a high resistance between the two contacts but without knowing how much resistance the winding inside the solenoid has, I don't know what resistance it should read. I'll be honest, 13.8 Ohms is probably fine but I just used the continuity test personally. If it beeps, then I'm happy (y)
