General Is my exaust pipe on the wrong side?

This may sound silly , but after searching the web for a few hours I have only come across a few images of X's that have the exaust pipe on the driver side (LHD 1980 1500).

As this car is a new to me car with no real documentation about what was done , i was just curious as to the correct location for the pipe?

About 80% of all the X1/9s made had the exhaust on the left (looking at the car from the back). However the other 20% (possibly a fair bit more than that - it is a guess) were a model revision for the federal market.

I'm not familiar with exactly when the revision was made but an early 1500 like yours may well pre-date it or it may not be from the relevant market.
