i've done a search, seen one or 2 threads that could help my decision.

right this is how it goes...

started tonight. it was fine this morning. on my way home from work, i started to hear this rattly noise. at first i thought it was my heatsheild on the cat. then once i'd actually stopped, lifted the bonnet, the noise seems to come from the rear/left hand side, where the alternator is. the noise gets louder as the revs get higher. this leads me to think its belt driven. and other than the cambelt. thats the only thing.

it sound like a dry bearing/grinding sound.

guessing its not the bushes in it as i'm not losing any charge, or at least not yet and no lights on the dash.

i'm guessing its the alternator bearings.

any of this sound about right?

if you know what i'm on about or had previous, please left a comment. and no i dont have a haynes, only a porter manual. (very basic)

whats the best entrey on attack? remove the wheel and inner arche linner?

thanks in advance!
