Hi All
I am hoping that someone will be able to help with an intermittent fault I have on our W reg multipla.
Two years ago on a journey to Oxford from Cornwall, the red injector light came on on the dash. The car lost it's revs and the performance was terrible - not good on the M5. We took it to the nearest Fiat garage who diagnosed a fault with the throttle switch. They kindly sorted this and we had no more problems for a significant period of time.
The next time the light came on Mr Stig inadvertantly fixed it by fiddling with some wires under the passenger dash (possibly where the the throttle switch is located?????)
Some time passed and the light came on again. Mr Stig fiddled with the wires but to no avail. We did some internet searching and came up with a list of possible problems which we ruled out one by one - changed the Mass Air Flow sensor, cleaned the EGR valve and replaced the air filter.
None of this worked so we blamed the cheap diesel in our local supermarket and put in some engine cleaning additives. This didn't work so Mr Stig fiddled with the wires again - no change. We were getting to point of taking the car to the garage - you try driving up the hills of Cornwall in a Multipla with no revs!! - when the problem suddenly resolved itself and the car was driving like when we first bought it.
The light has come on again though. Again the performance is affected - although not all the time. Sometimes the car drives well and others like a pig. I drive the car the most and I think it is affected by the weather (rain) and bumpy roads (obviously as Mrs Stig and someone who doesn't know a spark plug from a thingy you check the oil with, I may not be qualified to have an opinion ).
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have we missed anything?
Thanking you in anticipation
