Technical I need help! Something strange happened...

I've not had much luck on my last post but I'm thinking that was a too simple question for this forum. However, if anyone can still recommend a garage then that would be good!

Anyway, yesterday my GP went all weird on me. After driving without any problems I stopped the car in a car park. After about 10 minutes I started the car and when putting it into reverse (Dual Logic automatic gearbox) the car just made a massive bang in the engine as if the gears wasnt engaging properly. Moved it to forward but wouldnt change drive. The only thing I think might have been going wrong was I couldnt hear the buzzing noise (the one you get when you open your door)

After a while I was able to get it to move. Since then its been OK.

Also, later on that day the headlights on dipped stop working. Only the sidelights and the main beams worked.

This morning I tried the car again and both the gears and the lights seem to be working fine again! This seems a little like out the x-files!

Any suggestions??

At last I found out what it was... Well the Garage did at least. I was worried it was going to cost loads but luckily it was found to be an earthing problem. Well thats what the garage told me and who was I to question it?

The biggest shock was when I asked for the damage (cost!) and the owner told me to just give a drink to one of his to the young mechanic who fixed the car!

Its been over a week now and it all seems to be going well.. I think I might have found a garage I may be able to trust! Its got its service due in a couple of months so lets see then! At least they are a Fiat/Alfa specialist garage and the owner really seemed to know his stuff..
