It must be a North West thing. A about 12/18 months ago, a wealthy couple from the South East of the area in fact almost in Derbyshire, gave the excuse for speeding that a friend from Turkey had been staying with them and had been driving the car at the time of the offence. One of them even went to the time and trouble to fly to Turkey and send a postcard which basically said Thanks for letting him stay with them and drive their lovely Mercedes (I think). What a pair of knobs. They were both caught out and done for Perverting the Course of Justice and sent inside. Just flying to Turkey and back would have cost more than the fine. Even if they had 9 points on one of their licences and banned on the totting-up procedure it probably only been for about 3 months. I suppose once they started lying.....
