One addition to the diesel vs petrol discussion in this thread: Up to now the 95 hp diesel engine in the 500 had a much higher (official) CO2 emission than the TA, which was absolutely ridiculous, but now FIAT finally introduced a new diesel engine in the 500. The best TA is running a 68mpg life time average (although there are some entries missing). UFI's up to 65mpg for this tank - still gaining 2mpg per tank as she breaks in.

The best 1.4 is averaging 45mpg and is actually being beaten by an Abarth
