We have a Mk1 Punto 1.1sx 1995 and the timing needs adjusting a little as on tick over when the choke comes off the engine dies after a short while and this is also causing it to not drive as it should, does anyone know how to adjust the timing please?

you can't really..

the ECU controls the spark and fuel, it gets its timing information from a sensor and wheel on the crank which is not adjustable.

the cam drive on the crank, and on the camshaft itself is not adjustable. the only thing you could do is lock the bottom end, loosen the timing belt and then advance / retard the cam a tooth and then refit the belt. when doing this, remember it is a 'safe' engine so if you adjust it too far, you'll do NO damage to the valves / pistons - just make it run bad!
