Technical Help with 1.2 16v conversion for mk1 punto 1.1?

How much are you willing to spend?

Youll need:

  • Loom
  • Gearbox and linkage (I think its different)
  • Driveshafts, Suspension, possibly Hubs
  • 257mm discs and calipers (from donor car)
  • Rear drums to match (I think the 1.1 is different from the 1.2??)
  • ECM, Code box and Keys
  • Possibly rack and piping (if you want power steering)
  • Whole exhaust system
  • Possiply fuel pump and fuel lines
For either engine youll need the Punto 85 manifold and ecm as the 1.4 is a completely different arrangment with fly by wire throttle

Then get and engineers report for the car, tell the insurance and dvla. Job done (y)

6-700 for an engine and box

or £1110 for a whole car with mot and tax.good to go
sell your own car and suddenly you are paying the engine price

well that one on ebay comes with engine and gearbox for £150. the engine is still in the car so a deal might happen.. is the need for larger discs because of more braking power needed?
nah who needs power steering I can live without on lil cars lol
ain't the exhaust layout the same?? except the manifold... so just use my current exhaust from cat back? if the layout is the same that is.
do you need the key code and stuff if you were to use your own ignition system?
