Technical Help please, Connecting to ECU

Hi,
This is driving me nuts, I have bought leads to connect to my 2001 2.8 Ducato, Downloaded the Multiecuscan software but all I'm getting is "Can't connect to ECU, check your leads or port settings" I want to turn off the injector light which came on after I knocked out a fuse in the fuse box, van is driving perfectly. picture of leads attached, any ideas on what's wrong? Even changed to a Windows 7 laptop as I was told ecuscan doesn't like Windows 10. Pic of leads attached,

Have you set the USB to be a Comms Port?

Provided that you haven't got a live fault, the light should clear itself after a number of drive cycles.

I hesitate to offer any more advise as I am not familiar with multiecuscan software package and am no computer expert but it may help if you googled "setting USB port for multiecuscan".

From memory the user manual that can be found on the MutiEcuScan website goes into the connection settings in some depth. There is also a wealth of information on the site itself about the connectors and differing pin connections that may be required for connecting to various ECUs.

Open MES,
Click on setings of press F9
In pop-up window click on interfaces tab
For interface 1 select K-Line / VAGCOM
Select the com port you have plugged the interface into (see device manager / ports in windows.

Click "test" button.

Thanks everyone for the help, Today I got a former work colleague who was a tech in Dell to have a look, he managed to get the correct drivers, com port etc etc, still no communication to my 01 Ducato 2.8JTD, I then tried another van in case it was the wiring to my ecu, no good either, then connected to an 08 Bravo with just the KKl lead, no problem at all. I'm thinking the 3 pin adapter lead is wrong, any ideas and link to a decent lead please? This is really annoying at this stage!:bang:

Still nothing, I made up a fly lead with a proper OBD connection as I thought it may be the connection was wrong on the 3 pin adapter, Tried all the suggestions on various posts here, Multiecuscan lists a Bosch EDC 15C7 CF3 for the 2.8 JTD, the ECU in the van is as in the pic, could this be my problem? It's really nuts at this stage! Any help please?

Are you sure you have the correct plug in the bag to connect to?
Also are you sure you got the power connected to the adaptor Which I think you need for the 3 pin cable?

Yes, defintely got the right 3 pin connector, the one with only 2 wires, a centre Black and the other red/white, Yes I have + to the 3 pin adapter. I even made up a new lead in case the connections were bad, The ECU fitted is not the one that comes up on the Multiecuscan list for th 2.8JTD Ducato, I'm wondering if this is the problem.

If MES is connecting but doesn't recognise the ECU, it will state "Invalid ISO code". If you aren't even getting that message, it still suggests a communication problem between MES and the vehicle.


I can only suggest working through pages 19-23 of the MES user guide in detail whilst using the Scan for Interfaces and Test functions in the Settings menu box.

To bottom it out, you really need to work your way methodically through the guide to set up and test your interface(s).


Once you know they are working, try a full systems scan of the van. MES will list all the ECUs it finds, which should help identify the engine ECU if you're not certain, or it will tell you if it doesn't recognise it.


You need to work through the setup guide methodically, one step at a time, testing your configuration at each stage.

Thanks for that, Mine only has the one ECU , no ABS, no Airbags. It's a real PITA trying to connect, no problem with an 08 Bravo. I'm trying to grab my techie friend for a while again.

are you sorted yet?
i had initial agro connecting my x290. it did not list the ecu present but found it it on a scan it also found the ABS module but would not comunicate. The problem was with windows USB set up sorted by reading the manual and reseting the latency (win 10)

Hi, No never got sorted with Multiecuscan, would not do anything and I had two computer whizz kids at it. Used a decent OBD reader and again no luck, went in under Peugeot and worked!

With an untested vehicle I dont select the model.. I 'scan for devices' on MES

It will list what it finds..
As said above..
You get 'unknown ISO code' if its not as anticipated

so you used a PSA program..?

or said it was a pug van on MES..??
