has the head gasket gone

Further to a previouss post re overheating badly, have bleeded the rad and it now isn't running well. I have it idling for about 10 minutes but there was a lot of white smoke and the coolant got pressurised very quickly. Have I blown the head gasket - any checks I can do?
Bravo 1.4 12v r plate hopefully not knackered.

very much sounds like the head gasket. The white "smoke" is steam, that unfortunatly tells you that water is in the cylinders

bearing in mind that it has been running 'fry an egg' hot should i compression test it first to make sure nothing else is gone.

2 weeks to do head gasket and no clue - lets hope Haynes is as good as it thinks it is!!
