Does the boot release button work without the key in ignition,, i have not tried.

I suppose geting in through the back seats aint too diff,, my calibra was done this way back in July

Definately doesn't work if car is deadlocked. Not sure it works if car is locked.

You dont get one as standard. If you want to test it sit in it and lock it then move about to set internal sensors off. Mine has shock sensors so i can give it a wack and it will go off if i hit it hard enough or might just beep at me.

So how much are we looking at for this from parts? and is it easy to fit

Fiat one is £150 i think, i got a clifford fitted for £300 though.
