Haynes manual for the punto ( 5956, 55 to 15 reg) says to remove the glove box:
1) Remove the passengers glovebox as described in chapter 11 section 25
2) Carefully praise the rear edge of the passengers side console front trim panel outwards, and manoeuvre it rearwards from place
3) Undo the retaining screw and remove the pollen filter cover
4) Withdraw the filter from its housing
5) Wipe clean the housing, then fit the new filter, noting the arrows on the filter element must point rearwards
6) Refit the centre console panel and glovebox.
Tried it as per video, got the new filter in but on trying to put the pollen filter cover broke the upper plastic lug as can't see what's happening. Spoke to Fiat dealer re getting a replacement cover who advises that other people have reported the same thing happening.!
chapter 11 section 25 refers to Facia panel removal and refitting
Glovebox removal:
1) Open the glovebox and use a small screwdriver to extract the outboard plastic hinge pin
2) with the hinge pin removed, manoeuvre the glovebox from the facia
Refitting
3) Refitting is a reversal of removal
Should have gone through the manual a few more pages, - for Punto Evo / Punto (2012 model year on), my car, glovebox instructions are:
1) Carefully prise the glovebox light from place, and disconnect the wiring plug.
2) Squeeze together the lugs and remove the retaining pin securing the glovebox lid support strap.
3) Lower the glovebox lid, depress the clip on the plastic bracket and manoeuvre the lid from the facia
4) Release the clips and pull the glovebox tray rearwards from place
5) Undo the 6 retaining screws, and manoeuvre the glove box rearwards, disconnecting the wiring plug(s) as they become accessible
Refitting
6) Refitting is a reversal of removal
Shall try once I receive the replacement pollen filter cover
Any help re replacing the pollen filter cover easily would be appreciated as it will save mucking around removing the glovebox
