Do you mean ignition cut whilst between gears to allow you to keep the throttle pinned to the floor through gear changes and preventing over-revving? No idea! But others may have a better idea of what you mean now at least. I’d also be careful that if the ignition was cut the fuel was also to prevent un-burnt fuel ruining the catalytic converter.
As a bit of an aside, the Nissan 370Z has an optional system called ‘syncro shift’ that matches the revs automatically for you, even on down shifts. In my experience it worked a treat and allowed full throttle down shifts as well as up.
