I use an old ipod for music storage and just converted all the songs to MP3 so it plays without any issues. If its the phone functions i cant help

It's the iPhone that won't work with the USB and I've have the adapter too. If the Fiat iPod kit allows you to plug into the back of the radio surely this is a better (hard wired) option
