Similar problem to what I had with my amp, doesn't turn on. Tried the solution I came up with where I connected the REM to the ignition barrel, no luck.

Strangely the amp works in my car with my wiring, so I know it's a wiring/HU issue. The amp should turn on without the RCA's attached, but it doesn't, it only powers on when the RCA's are plugged in. Could this mean that the HU is sending 12V down the RCA's? There is no output when the amp is on by the way, i.e. no signal from the HU.

Any suggestions? Hu need replacing?

Cheers,
Ant.

I think it has a good ground connection, not 100% though cause I didn't wire it all in so I just assumed. Would that cause the power to go down the RCA's though?

no,it would be earthing via them
TBH you cant work on "you think" its a good connection

get a multimeter on the live and check it has power
then check the earth
no point guessing if you dont know it has power and earth

After the above is checked try another HU. Sounds like somebody has removed the earth with the + and RCA's connected and fried the HU. Do check the RCA's and make sure they arent getting 12v from the amp.
