hi all

ive got the head off my cinq sporting due to changing head gasket,
the car has done 79.000 miles, shall i change the piston rings, would the car runs better with newer ones due to milage.

A guess, but no. 79k the piston rings should be fine.

dont bother alot of hassle for no gain lol they should be ok still

the car ran badly before i ripped head off, head gasket wasnt gone but old, is there anything i can take off and clean in the engine

Check for scores on the bores and piston movement throughout the stroke to check for ring and/or bore problems.

if you can see the hoan marks on the bores then the piston rings are fine. if you cant see them then the bores will be worn and fitting new rings wont do anything (much) the only option then is to have a rebore and buy a size up pistons (££££)
