DVD Drive not Working - X360 Elite

So my Xbox 360 Elite has been playing up. the DVD Drive wont recognise the discs, you have to eject it loads and reload and hope it accepts it.

It now doesnt seem to want to work at all. No errors showing up, no Ring lights or anything.

Anyone got any ideas? New DVD Drive?

Could try a lens cleaner but it's going to need a new drive which is a pain in the a***. IIRC you need the right type of drive and need to load a unique key onto the new drive or you can get banned on xbox live (plenty of stuff on the net)

Mine did that right before the second lot of red rings kicked in which was the error code for a failed dvd drive. MS washed their hands of it and wanted £110 to repair it so I just bought a new one with fresh warranty for £189.

I used this YouTube video to fix my Xbox. It fixed it so I sold it and brought a PS3 ... lol

Thanks alot guys. I have been reading around.

The other issue i have come up against after plugging it in is the fact the drive wont open...... it tries to open and jams after a few mm's of movement. Got any ideas?

Only thing I can suggest is rip it apart and play with its guts.

Will probably see what's wrong then.

Still not got round to this yet.

Trying to get hold of some rubbing alcohol first for the cleaning of the laser.

Will get round to it sometime
