I just had the alternator replaced on my 1.2 GP. I have a warranty, so I wasn't concerned about the price and so I took it to my local dealer. I noticed from the invoice that the dealer has used a reonditioned alternator, which seems strange to me. A nice woman phoned me later in the day and asked if I was happy. I asked and she said it was standard practice that Fiat used reonditioned alternators.
I'm wondering if this is true? Has anyone had experience with new vs. reconditioned. Are they as reliable? Should I take the car back an insist that they fit a new one? It took them almost two weeks to order this one in!
And, as an insult to the warranty company they charged the maximum diagnosis fee (£114+VAT), I'd be hugely angry if I were paying!
