Clifford alarm problems

I've just got mase's cinq, however I've managed to get its alarm into a strange state. I made the mistake of forgetting to lock the car before arming it, now I get 1 of 2 outcomes:
1) I go to disarm the alarm, it pips at me 3 times and immediately it goes off, if I press the arm/disarm option I get...
2) I go to disarm the alarm and it pips at me twice and I can unlock the door but as soon as I put the key in the ignition the alarm goes off... if I try to arm/disarm then nothing happens. If I get out of the car lock the door it'll then do item 1)

The problem is I have NO documentation about the alarm and I can't even get to it without setting it off, which has given me a splitting headache and is pissing the neighbours off something silly
