I bought a FIAT spec Blaupunkt IDC A09 changer off flea bay in September, I have never managed to get it work, hoping someone here might be able to shed some light.

It came with the insert, the code, the right fiat spec serial numbers etc.

I plugged it in, it will accept discs, spins them up, ejects them if needed. My Connect Nav+ unit recognises it is there through the service menus, but it only shows the No CD message when I try and switch to the CDC.

I have called 3 local ICE 'specialists'

No. 1 said, we don't do Fiats, its not worth the hassle for us. Try the dealer, Stoneacre, but they're useless and will just want to sell you a new one.

No. 2 said, we might be able to send it away to get it sorted, I'll check.....Nope, they don't do changers, only radios. Sorry, try the dealer.

No. 3 said, Fiats, nope, won't go near them, sorry, try the dealer.

I took it to Fiat today (not stoneacre) for something else to be done, and while there, I asked if anything could be done. They unplugged the cable at the back of the unit, plugged it in again and suggested they didn't know what was wrong, maybe go to an in car entertainment person!

I'm going round in circles.

Looked on Blaupunkts support website and got this in relation to issues on these changers.

Question:
IDC-A09 Why can't I activate the theft protection device on the exchanger?

Answer:
As of production date 284 (see sticker on device), no more codes can be entered. We decided to do this in order to simplify connections to various car radios.

(I assume this isn't the issue as my car came with a code written on the manual!)

And this in answer to it just not doing what it should:

Question:
ICD-A09
Exchanger does not work despite correct installation in accordance with the Installation Instructions.

Answer:
In early 2003, the IDC-A09 connection cable was changed. The plug connection for looping in constant power (necessary if there is no constant power at the C3 jack on the car radio or exchanger interface used) is no longer available.
Solution:
The red cable between the suspended fuse and the blue connector must be separated and voltage fed via the suspended fuse.

(Now, I haven't gone to look at the unit as it is the car, but when I put it in, I remember it definately didn't have a fuse on the cables.)

Anyone got any ideas as to a fix. The unit seems to have fully functioning internals, but will not talk to the Connect Nav+ unit, and nobody, not Fiat. not local ICE bods are willing to even look at the thing!

Help!

Any ideas, pretty please?

The disk changers are rubbish lol. They are temprimental as hell. If you have tried the code then it is a hardware issue. I have never actually got to understand exactly what is wrong but places do fix them. I am just trying to think of a way of sending one to somebody to find the issue and make a DIY Guide fix. It would cost money though and i couldnt guarantee that it would be an easy diy fix.

It doesnt seem like a hardware issue but i have been told that it is. I cant remember the coding sequence for the units either. It could be as simple as puting in the code. Is it something like first number press no 1 5 times if the first number of the code is 5 etc etc

I have the same problem. I changed my Connect Nav and the A09 wouldnt ask for the code.

I went to several places. They all said the same thing. I would need to go to fiat to have them reset the ECU. Which would make the A09 ask for the code.

However, my local dealer rejected what the audio specialists had told me and insisted there would be an option within the connect nav of inputting the security code.

Ive read a guide on the forum which suggests pressing 1 and 5 for 5 seconds until all lights on the changer flash. This apparently resets the changer, and makes it forget the previous code, but ive had no joy.

I hope someone on here can help us ;)

your local dealer supports the point too which i am at,i i have de-coded the cd-multichanger using cn+ and have the voice recognition asking for a code ,just need to find the rite sequence of buttons to input the code ie radio, repeat, ect
ps the two buttons to hold is 2+5

hope you are going to tell us bb as my fiat garage is of the same opinion and i am waiting for my garage to give me the code that i need

Here's a copy of the IDC-AO9 user manual. It explains both methods of entering the code.

I may be able to get the code from the serial number.

Dave.
