Cambelt replacement - Newcastle area

Hi

Eventually getting round to replacing my 2001 Bravo's Cambelt - a stitch in time and all that. Unfortunately my usual garage doesn't have the specialist tools and the Fiat dealer has given me a quote in pence not pounds I think!!!

Can anyone recommend a garage in and around area local to Newcastle which is able to do this?

Additionally if any fellow forum members can give me a bit of an idea of what I should expect to pay or what you have recently paid that would be a great help.

It's a Bravo 80 1.2 litre 16v.

Do it yourself mate, it's easy to do, ive done both my 1.4 (with no previous knowledge) and a 2.0 20v marea kit won't be over a ton with tensioners and aux belts i should imagine!

I'm not sure about that - I see what you're saying but would much rather someone with more knowledge than me (i.e. some!) were let loose on it!

Particularly my normally reliable local garage said they couldn't do it.

I have the cam locking tools you can have. The 1.2 is one of the easiest to do

@ Anonymous - when you say I can "have" them - do you mean to borrow or to keep? ANd are you in North East?

I'm really not sure about doing it myself but if I can pass the tools onto my garage perhaps they can.

A bit far away for me to come, I'm in south Yorkshire. I cannot understand why the garage can't do it, One of the easiest cambelt changes on any car. I can lend you the locking tools. ( you only need one to change the belt) plus 4 dowels to set the pistons in-line, Really is simple,no timing marks needed
